12 Canada-bound Pinoys held at NAIA

MANILA, Philippines - At least 12 Canada-bound Filipinos believed to be victims of illegal recruitment were held at the Ninoy Aquino International Airport (NAIA) Terminal 1 before dawn Friday.

Radio dzBB's Louie Garcia reported that the 12 showed up at the airport and claimed to have a flight bound for Canada scheduled to depart at 4:05 a.m.

But a record check showed no such flight for Canada, and a scrutiny of the 12 Filipinos showed they had no passports and travel papers.

Operatives of the NAIA Intelligence and Investigation Division said a woman arrived and claimed to represent the 12, but appeared confused when told there was no such Canada-bound flight.-
